Hutton’s is proud to be able to provide practical assistance this Christmas to a charity in earthquake-struck Nepal which helps burns victims.
We are sending £5,000 worth of burns dressings to Kathmandu- based Burn Violence Survivors-Nepal (BVS-Nepal) to help them provide medical assistance.
Burn Violence Survivors-Nepal (BVS–Nepal) is a not for profit, non-governmental organization which helps and supports survivors of burns, resulting from accidents, or violence.
BVS-Nepal assisted victims in the aftermath of the 7.8 magnitude earthquake which struck central Nepal in April this year, resulting in the loss of thousands of lives and homes.
The charity’s teams and volunteers visit burns victims in hospital and at home, providing practical help and nutrition boxes. Burns survivors need to be fed very high protein diets to give their bodies the strength to fight such extreme injuries.
In addition, BVS-Nepal runs an awareness programme, provides training for medical staff and survivors, and organises fund-raising events.
John Macdonald, Hutton’s Medical General Manager, said: “We were introduced to this charity by one of our customers, a former sea captain, who advised us of the good work they do. We are pleased to be able to provide these burns dressings to them and hope our support will make a difference.”
